FOWLES WINE | Platinum medal for 2018 Ladies who Shoot their Lunch at 2021 TEXSOM Awards
Updated: Jun 25, 2021
Here she goes again! Our Ladies who Shoot their Lunch 2018 Shiraz has received a platinum medal at the 2021 TEXSOM International Wine Awards in the US. The award is judged by Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine from across the world.
A sophisticated combination of rich berries, dark chocolate and oak spice with silky tannins and great balance, length and intensity, this 2018 Shiraz is still available to buy in Australia in magnum size (1.5L).

Judges' Notes
"Savory soy and meat components find a counterpoint in subtle notes of cassis and licorice on the mid-palate. This still needs time to open up, but with air, violets, sage brush, and grilled fennel emerge. The restrained use of oak allows the purity of the fruit and spine of acidity to shine even at this stage of its evolution. Excellent length, too."
TEXSOM Retreat Mentor Editor, Lars Ryssdal
TEXSOM Retreat Writer, Bobbie Burgess
"The perfect wine for wild game thrown on the grill, after the sun has gone down on a warm summer night. Invigorating aromas of ripe blackberries, black cherries, and wild strawberries freshly picked off the vine and crushed fill the nose. As you continue swirling aromas of licorice, hints of eucalyptus and soft flowers like lilacs open up. On the end there’s are layers of cedar and smoke, that make this wine perfect for enjoying around a campfire."
